History Timeline

How well do you know the order of historical events? Our History Timeline game challenges you to drag events into chronological order on a horizontal timeline. Each round presents 5–8 events from world history - ancient civilizations, medieval kingdoms, revolutions, world wars, and modern milestones. Your job is to place them in the correct sequence from earliest to latest. It's a fun way to test and improve your sense of when things happened in history.

The game uses a pool of 100+ events spanning from around 3000 BCE to the present day. Events include the construction of the Great Pyramid, the fall of Rome, the signing of the Magna Carta, the invention of the printing press, the American Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, both World Wars, the moon landing, and the rise of the internet. Each event shows a date, a name, and a brief description to help you recall or reason about its place in history.

Scoring rewards accuracy. For each event you place in the correct position relative to the others, you earn 100 points. A round with 6 events perfectly ordered earns 600 points. Over 10 rounds, your total score can reach thousands. Your personal best is saved in your browser using localStorage, so you can challenge yourself to beat your own record over time. The game uses crypto.getRandomValues() for secure randomness, ensuring fair and unpredictable event selection each game.

The drag-and-drop interface is designed for clarity. Events appear as cards you can grab and drop into slots on the timeline. Drop zones highlight when you drag over them, and after you submit your answer, correct placements turn green and incorrect ones turn red so you learn as you play. No timers - take your time to think through the sequence. History buffs will find some rounds easy; others will require careful reasoning about centuries and eras.

Understanding chronology is fundamental to history. Knowing that the Renaissance came after the Black Death, or that the Cold War followed World War II, helps you make sense of cause and effect. This game reinforces that mental timeline. Whether you're a student studying for exams, a teacher looking for a classroom activity, or a casual learner curious about the past, the History Timeline game offers an engaging way to practice ordering events.

The game is fully standalone - no account, no downloads. Sound effects can be toggled on or off. Related games like Trivia Quiz, Geography Quiz, and Capital Quiz offer more ways to test your knowledge. Ready to prove your grasp of history?
