🃏 Gin Rummy

Draw, meld, knock - or go gin

How to Play Gin Rummy

Gin Rummy is the quintessential two-player card game - a perfect blend of skill, memory, and strategy. Played with a standard 52-card deck, each player receives 10 cards. The goal is to form your entire hand into melds (sets and runs) while minimizing the value of your unmatched cards, called deadwood.

Gameplay

On each turn, you draw one card - either from the face-down stock pile or the face-up discard pile - then discard one card. You're building melds: sets (3 or 4 cards of the same rank, like three Kings) and runs (3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit, like 5-6-7 of hearts).

When your deadwood totals 10 or less, you may knock to end the round. Lay down your melds and deadwood. Your opponent then lays off any cards that fit onto your melds and reveals their remaining deadwood. If you have zero deadwood, that's Gin - a 25-point bonus and your opponent can't lay off.

Scoring

First player to 100 points wins the match.
