How to Play Dice Frenzy: The Complete Guide

Dice Frenzy is one of the world's most beloved dice games, inspired by classic dice scoring games that have entertained players for generations. The game combines luck with strategic decision-making: you roll five dice, hold the ones you want to keep, and re-roll the rest - up to three times per turn. Then you must assign your final roll to one of thirteen scorecard categories. The player with the highest total after thirteen rounds wins.

The Upper Section

The upper section has six categories: Ones through Sixes. For each category, you score the sum of all dice showing that number. For example, if you roll 3, 3, 3, 4, 5 and choose Threes, you score 9. If you roll 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 and choose Ones, you score 5. The upper section matters for the bonus: if your total in the upper section reaches 63 or more, you earn a 35-point bonus. That's the equivalent of three of each number (1+2+3+4+5+6 = 21, times three = 63), so planning for the bonus is a key strategy.

The Lower Section

The lower section has seven categories. Three of a Kind and Four of a Kind require at least three or four dice showing the same number; you score the sum of all five dice. Full House is 25 points for three of one number and two of another. Small Straight (30 points) requires four sequential dice - 1-2-3-4, 2-3-4-5, or 3-4-5-6. Large Straight (40 points) requires five sequential dice - 1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6. Dice Frenzy (50 points) is five of a kind. Chance lets you score the sum of all dice with no restrictions - useful when your roll doesn't fit anywhere else.

Holding and Re-rolling

Each turn, you start with five dice and three rolls. After the first roll, you may click any die to hold it - held dice stay in place and are highlighted. You can release a held die by clicking it again. On your second and third rolls, only the unheld dice are re-rolled. This gives you control: if you have 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, you might hold the three 3s and re-roll the 4 and 5 hoping for another 3 (Four of a Kind or Dice Frenzy) or a 2 (Full House). Knowing when to hold and when to chase a big combination is the heart of Dice Frenzy strategy.

Strategy Tips

Prioritize the upper section early if you're close to the 63-point bonus - it's worth 35 points. Save Chance for rolls that don't fit anywhere else. If you get a Dice Frenzy, celebrate - and if you've already used your Dice Frenzy category, many house rules allow a "Dice Frenzy bonus" of 100 extra points for additional five-of-a-kind rolls. In our version, the first Dice Frenzy scores 50; check the rules for your game. When choosing between categories, consider which ones are harder to fill later: Large Straight is rarer than Three of a Kind, so sometimes it's better to take a small score in a tough category early rather than risk a zero.
